Yet another sensational atmosphere laden Back To Lappo day, a burst of winter sunshine, a big crowd, amazing bar sales, and of course out on the paddock we won all six grades, the club championship, two minor premiership, the boat race, and of course we now have a record 5 teams in the semis next Saturday at Uni of NSW.

1st Grade

Firsts just missed out on sneaking into the major semi with a massive 76-31 victory in a game that looked like touch footy for most of proceedings. However, some of the attacking footy played was awesome, and the crowd were in total awe in particular of most of the footy produced by man of the match, fijian flyer Sai, not only did he score four tries breaking Rob Browns club record, but it was the way he did it, just uncanny some of the bursts of raw power, speed and deception he produced and he even gifted a try to the other winger Ramulo who bagged three himself. Apart from the brilliance of Sai, Danny Kroll was in a class of own as usual, while BJ gave it to them all game. Bring on Epping !

2nd Grade

Seconds set the scene for next weeks major semi wrapping up the minor premiership with a solid 25-0 win and will be looking to do it again in Saturdays major against the same foe. The Blueys were really sharp for the whole game, the return of Pinno and the placing of Connor at half was a real winner, and while there was still a bit too much dropped ball perhaps just being a bit too enthusiastic, but with a five star game from Connor leading the way ,the end result was never in doubt, and the way this team has bonded, a grand final berth next Saturday looks like a huge possibility.

Colts

In the match of the day, the Blueys young guns were fighting for a spot in the semis, and it was a real end to end stuff as both teams turned on some great Rugby, hopefully we will see a repeat in next weeks semi final. The Blueys really got their act together and ever time Lindfield put the pressure on or scored, the home team came back with a reply, then right on the bell, some great footy  led  up to an awesome try in the clubhouse corner from Campbell Russell, gave the game to the boys 24-19, the deserved  victory celebrations from the Colts would have been heard in Penrith. Plenty of candidates for man of the match, but the mercurial Luke Ruttley coudnt be denied, sensational game from him, while Liam, Tom and Kyle also made notable contributions.

3rd Grade

In the major semi final preview, the Blueys thirds powered away to defeat Lindfield 25-0 in the top of the table clash. The  mountains forwards showed their dominance from the start, the scrums were brutal, but the visitors hung in and made the minor premiers work for every yard gained, and at the halfway point it was only 5-0 our way. A Sam Henderson penalty early in the second spell took it out to 8-0, but the visitors were still trying, however we gradually wore them down with brute power and class to runaway with the match, and just showed again when they have to they lift a gear, they do it,and in the process leave carnage all the paddock. No surprise that inspirational skipper Trent Childs was the best on the field, nor only destroying the opposition in the tight stuff, but pulled off a couple of sensational on the line tackles that broke Lindfields hearts at crucial stages, and of course while Trent dominated, players like the grey fox Dave Thomas showed a full hand of his outstanding Rugby skills.

4th Grade

It was do or die for fourths too, but the boys fought all the way and despite being behind by two points at the halfway mark, lifted in the second spell and powered home to record a gutsy 26-13 victory, despite the desperate attempts of the opposition to bolster their ranks at crucial parts of the match. The Blueys had all the answers and with the likes speed machines Aaaron Bissett and Adam Wright using their exceptional  skills to feast on the chances that a tough and hard working pack provided for them. This team loves a challenge, and they will thrive on the situation again next saturday against Uni.

5th Grade

The day started with a fifth grade game against Mosman and in an entertaining game, choc full of Blueys legends and icons, the boys got home 20-7. It wasnt always pretty but there was some great footy shown, Ash Livingstone made his first appearance on Lappo this year and excelled, Jim Garroway really made his presence felt up front, and some of the short bursts of speed from Ryan Casey had his teamates and the crowd in awe. A great game, against a great opposition.
