Grand Final Photos PHOTOS:

No written praise can ever equal the real life effort put in by the Blue Mountains Rugby first grade side as they played  one of the greatest games of team footy in the Blueys long and proud history ,to take out the 2018 premiership swamping red hot favourites St Pats 29-5 in front of an emotion charged crowd at Concord Oval.Minor premiers St Pats went into the grand final full of confidence,a weeks rest, and up against a bruised and battered Blueys side who had suffered two huge blows during the week, losing both junior and Joel, but such is the depth and spirit this club has this year, they shrugged off all the adversity and how!..

1st Grade

For the first 15 minutes on the back of their huge and arrogant forward pack, as expected, St Pats put on all the pressure, but a tough and resiliant Mountains team, held on,and gradually started to show just how good they were and their hard work was rewarded, first Sai ran wide and scored a try in the corner Valentine Homes would have been proud of (Krolly missed the kick in front of the Pats mob,but unlucky for them, it was the last one he missed all match),the Appo stormed onto the ball to score next to the posts, and the Blueys team ansd supporters were starting to really believe an upset was on.Into the second half, and Mountains kept up the pressure,Krolly and George combined to send Kiwi in under the posts, the Blueys then survived a crucial point 20 minutes to go,when Pats scored, but got called back for a foul in the lead up,what a crucial ruling for us!.Who else then would put the icing on the cake than Sai,with Pats playing desperate attacking footy he swooped in with a near length of the field intercept to wrap up a memorable premiership decider. In such a team effort, their were so many stars,Krolly proved once again he is the total Rugby package with a sensational game (poor old St Pats had not seen him until the GF),Affro played a whole third grade game then started in the front row to help weather the initial storm,Millsie crunched em,Graham was exceptional in the tough stuff,Appo thrived,Kiwi crunched em on one leg,(same with Gav),and Steve Frias what a match from this bloke, but in all fairness, everyone who ran on to the paddock did us proud. As for the opposition, they were beaten by a great team effort, courage, guts, and ability.

2nd Grade

Its hard to comprehend that seconds are not the premiers after they were beaten by Forest 15-12 in the big dance.Everything seemed to be going to plan in the first half,Leigh had scored twice and this team that had only lost one game all year looked set for glory. However, not to be outdone,Forest struck back, and while they did win the game with the help of a bounced ball try,the Mountains team should never have eally been in the position to lose in the first place. One positive,if there are any from losing a GF,was the plenty of fine effort put in by the Blue men,the whole front row of Monty,Yetti, and Clancy were outstanding, while the scrum half pairing of Pinno and Connor, and of course Leigh and Spanna were amongst those worthy of mention.

3rd Grade

Despite being odds on to take out the title, thirds had to work all the way against Lindfield before taking out the big dance with a 17-12 win.The boys probably played their worst half of footy all year in the opening spell,it was hard to comprehend the almighty scrum being pushed around, and conceeding two tries, although one was really a lucky bounce, however,a try out wide to Sam made it 12-5 at the break. The second half was a diiferent story, the Blueys dominated, and while Lindield tried, the boys kept pinned in their own half, and gradually wore them down,James Ritchey snuck round the back of a maul on the line to scoot through, and then Dougie Want pounced on a loose ball at the back of their under pressure lineout to seal the victory. When looking for those who stood out,Ian Docherty destroyed them in both attack and defence, while Barro repeated his major semi form with a top shelf display of talent and determination.
